I'm starting the month-long Iron Man challenge at the university where I work and will try to complete iron man distances of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run/walk in the 31 days between October 1 and October 31.
There will be plenty of faculty, staff, and students doing the challenge too, but I'd love to have some MFP-ers join me for support! Anybody wanna try?

I have to do all of my biking on one fo the campus stationary bikes for it to count, and all my running/ walking miles on a campus treadmill-- so works for me!0 -
As the nights are starting to draw in, I’m looking to get a turbo trainer to fix to my bike. Untill then, I’ll either hit the road when I can or use a spin bike at the gym.0

Hope everyone is still around. sending you all friend requests....
i was pretty excited to get to start this challenge, i thought this was an interesting twist to my routine. The run/walking is no problem....i have gone 5 miles a day for about a month now. For some reason this routine broke a 3 month plateau for me and I will continue the 5 miles regardless until i am no longer losing. On good days, i jog/walk intervals these, on bad ones i practically limp/crawl. but i go, regardless
bike: I should do more. I live on some sort of a bike route (not official)... i get fifty or so serious (no kids- this is 65 mph country roads) bikers going by a weekend, every nice weekend..... To date i only have an exercise bike. it's claim to fame here is being used when the weather is bad. But dang, it looks like fun for others!!
swim: i grew up swimming since around the time i could walk to junior high. But its been 30+ years since i did laps....or anything near.......
today:
5 miles run/walk. ( 2.5 intervals, 2/5 walk)
10 miles bike (must pick up here)
.5 swim ( thats 1/2 mile)
the swim turned out to be the major problem today. The bottom part of my suit was falling off every time i made a turn. (old lady skirt bottoms ?? lost weight? i have only for hot tub use). It really didn't matter so much on the 1/2 that was not visable to anyone walkin by. but...ummmm need to work on getting something better:laugh:0
