HRM and walking

Hello. Thinking about getting a Polar heart rate monitor so I can take out a bit of the guesswork with how many calories I burn. This will work fine with cardio work during a DVD etc but will it still give me an idea of calories burnt when I do an early morning walk? I will use my iPhone for the distance and pace etc.

An HRM will work fine during a walk. You just can't use it to calculate calories while you're sitting around not actually doing any exercise.
Enjoy it!0 -
I use the HRM during my walks in the evening and it works fine. I have the polar FT4 and it is great :-)0

I got a Polar FT4 not too long ago on recommendation from several friends, and it's wonderful! You have to go online to see the full user manual, but it's really very easy to get started with it. I love using it for my walks and jogs and even put it on if I'm going to vaccum my whole house - I burn over 100 calories vaccuming! Obviously I'm starting out small. LOL But it really is wonderful for figuring out exactly what you're accomplishing.0
