My daughter is 15 months old. She doesn't nurse all that much, a few times in 24 hours I guess. I am working on weaning her as well. Should I add the breast feeding calories or should I cut them out? Or how many should I add??
Thanks!!

I always added mine at the end of each day, when feeding was consistent. :)

My lo is about the same as yours and nurses about 3-5x a day. I add 200 in a day

I would probably add about 200 extra or just set your weight loss goal to .5 pounds a week. My son nursed until he was almost 2, just a few time a day after about 18 months, and it seemed like I gained weight fasted during this time than when he was nursing more often.I should add I didn't gain a ton of weight probably about 10 pounds total in his second year of life. If you are losing weight faster you can always adjust your goals.

My 16 month old is still nursing pretty frequently, and we're not weaning any time soon - I log mine each day at 375 cals. You can probably use the info from here http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html#calculator to guessitmate how much milk your LO is getting - then figure about 20 cals per ounce. "Several studies have measured breastmilk intake for babies between 12 and 24 months and found typical amounts to be 14-19 oz per day (400-550 mL per day). Studies looking at breastmilk intake between 24 and 36 months have found typical amounts to be 10-12 oz per day (300-360 mL per day)." So if your little one is nursing very little, that would probably be in the 10-12 oz/day range - or about 200 cals a day.

I log mine in food, as negative cals (it does the math for me)... however, some log breastfeeding in exercises, and just put the minutes that they nurse. That might work pretty well for you, especially if it varies a lot from day to day.

At 200 cals a day, you could just not worry about logging that at all, and just be comfortable with maybe going over 100-200 cals on a regular basis.

Thank you so much ladies! I think I will adjust it to 200 calories until she is weaned. And I have a much harder time losing weight while breast feeding! I am hungry all the time, it's almost like when I'm pregnant. I'm just never satisfied. lol
