I know there are threads out there about ladies with PCOS but I decided to make this one since the other ones seem to be full of posts and its very confusing to read.
I have been diagnosed with PCOS for about a year now and up until about 6 months ago I was able to maintain my weight. Now I seem to be gaining weight left and right. I never really thought much about it but something told me to do some research on it. I know you all are probably wondering why I didn't do that from day one... well I figured that if I needed to know anything that my doctor would tell me... boy was I wrong. So I found out that females with PCOS are insulin resistant. This is why we have a hard time losing weight and we gain weight so easily. I have also read that ladies with PCOS need to be on a special diet not only to lose weight or maintain a certain weight but also to help alleviate symptoms that relate to PCOS. Almost every article that I have found says that a GI/GL diet is the way to go. I am having a very hard time understanding this diet plan. If any of you ladies out there are currently dieting using this method and can help me this would be greatly appreciated. I am very confused on this. Please feel free to add me as a friend.

not all females with pcos are but most and that is something you can get over the pcos is for life. Def. feel free to add me its tough and scary having pcos (at times) i dont eat a low gi diet its too hard lol try metformin its pretty cheap even if you dont have insurance i lost most of my weight with it (still tracked ) but i didnt feel like i had to eat insane amounts of food all the time i got off metformin in july because i didnt need it anymore my periods are fairly reg. now like 40 day cycles i dont have to see my endocrinologist anymore and i feel great (still dont do a special diet and i haven't had any problems) still just counting calories is the absolute main thing and excercising it is alittle harder with pcos to lose weight but i try not to think about it that way at all sometimes we let things become a crutch anyway best of luck . add me ask any questions you want to
