I'm around 40 lbs from my main goal, but was wondering just out of curiosity what I should do with my calorie intake as I get closer to my main goal. I've heard a couple different things. Some say you keep lowering your cals, some say to make a higher calorie goal...what did you do & why?

Upping the calorie intake or wrong combinations will make you reach the plateau. Hence, keep up the good work and keep going till you reach the goal.

I think that you should gradually increase your calories because once you get where you want to be you want to be able to sustain your weight loss permanently so therefore you need to be realistic at what it's going to take to keep you where you are at! This is why so many people, myself included, when doing fad diets or eat so little or do some crazy food plan and once they reach their goal, if they reach their goal, end up gaining it all back because it's not something one can sustain for life. Eating healthy most of the time, exercising and making room for realistic splurges is the best way to keep the weight off! This time I am doing it differently and have thrown out everything i thought i used to know about dieting and doing it the healthy and realistic way as to be able to permanently keep it off! Does this make sense? LOL I hope i made sense. Good luck and great job!

As we get closer to our goals it is important to lose weight slower in order to maintain muscles mass. I've read that if you have 40lbs to lose you should be trying at 1lbs a week (NOT 2). If you have 20lbs or less it should be 05lbs per week.
