Good morning! Welcome to week 5 of our challenge. Amazing how fast time is going by, huh?
A special shoutout to Lesyle for logging the most miles this week! 23!
Out of the 8 remaning members, only 5 of us completed the challenge. I am excluding 2 other people for lack of participation, so we're down to 6! We rock!!
Since we're SO awesome, I think we should step it up this week and instead of 16, we should go for 18 miles!
Let's get out there and kick some butt!!
Happy Monday!

Lesyle - WTG on the 23 miles.
bring on the 18 miles!0 -
ok - so I ran a 5k on Saturday for our local Pumpkin Fest. I ran it last year and it was my very first 5k with a time of 37+minutes. I felt as if I ran my hardest and when I got to the finish line they said 32:50 (my best time so far is 29:54). Come to find out they didn't have the race mapped out right and we actually ran 3.4. That stinks. I did meet a couple there from town that actually do a lot of races...they were telling my that I really should do the 10k October 8th. I have until the 30th to register on line.0

Thamre- That sucks about the mismapping! (did I just make up a word?) Still, that's awesome that you ran it and you should definitely run the 10k. In fact, go sign up now. Like seriously, now!!!0

23 miles!!?? Awesome! I have to say, I wish I could calculate how many miles I walk while pushing shopping carts (I work at a grocery store). I did get one mile in on Friday (my first-ever mile with no walking!!)
I'm working early-to-late today and tomorrow but I'm hoping to get up early for a walk/run on Wednesday, hopefully another walk on Friday, and then Saturday is the Apple Harvest Dat 5k I'm running!! I'm really excited about it.
I know you guys are all rocking like 15 miles a week, but with my schedule, my goal for this week is 6 miles. And some weight lifting.0 -
Aw that sucks abt the mileage. Def sign up to do the 5k! You will do great!
18 miles eh! Better step it up a notch. I stop updating my log in when I reach goal ! Lol,will update all my miles now!0 -
Mariam- 18 miles will be good practice for your upcoming 1/2 marathon0
-
18 miles! Wow, pushing us a bit Maria? Okay ladies, here we go, we can do this.
Thank you, thank you for the shout outs of my 23 miles. It was tough, but obviously well worth it. Tham, congrats on the 5k+. Sad on the administrators of the run that it wasn't mapped out correctly, but, think of it this way, 2/10 miles more you were able to add to your miles for last week!
We can do this everyone, wear out those walking/running shoes. Make it a goal to have to buy new ones at the end of the 8 weeks!0 -

Another rainy Tuesday morning in beautiful MD!
Oh man, Mondays used to be my no exercise day but since I'm now trying to tone a bit, I've been doing some light arm weights. Yesterday, I decided to not only do that, but also an awesome yoga/pilates dvd and oh my gosh, did I feel it! I was so incredibly tired by the end. If anyone is interested, it's called Crunch - Super SlimDown: Pilates Yoga Blend. The instructor is fabulous and she's got exaclty the body I'd like to have one day lol

Wednesday already! It is SO dark out right now.
Sinead- Take good care of yourself!! In the end, that's what matters the most. Also, you've got that recital to rock!
Thamre- Excellent!!! I'm glad to hear you signed up. It'll be fun
Mariam- How far did you run with the club last night? Also, how does a running club actually work? It sounds like a great idea so I may look into that

Good morning ladies. I don't know if you noticed, but I have not been on for a few days. This has been a very trying 3 days and I am not sure where things are going to fall when they finally settle. Monday night I finally had enough, my husband and I have been fighting for a few years now, we just can't communicate. I am not ready to commit to a divorce, however, I have moved out for the time being. Needless to say my exercise/fitness has taken its toll for the past couple of days. I refuse to allow this/him to shake me and/or break my goal of getting back to being fit and healthy. However, I don't have access to the equipment, tools and foods I had previously. I am not sure how long I will stay gone, but I need him to see the seriousness of our situation. He has worn blinders for some time. I apologize for dumping this on you all, but I wanted you to know why I am probably not going to be as communicative as I have been in the past. I do ask one thing of you all. Please help me stay committed to ME. I am going to provide my personal email address in this posting. If you see that I have not at least logged my meals for a few days, email me, bring me back. Its times like this that I dump the whole lot and forget about me, I don’t want to do that this time. I know I have only “known” you for a few weeks, but going through the journey that we all are on MFP, brings a bond like none other. I know you all care for each other and me. And trust me, this means the world to me! You all have provided more support to my fitness goals in 5 weeks than my husband/family has in 5 years.
Please help me to be honest with myself. Thank you all, God bless you all and may He work His miracles in all of us and in our relationships.
In His name, Leslye - Leslye125@gmail.com0 -
Leslye - I am sorry to hear about what you are going thru. I have been in this situation myself many times - except mine has been over 15 years of fighting. Just know that we will be here for you and will help you through all of this {{hugs}}0
-
Leslye- I am so sorry to hear you're going through this. I know you guys had been having issues for a while but I guess you can't ever be ready for something like this. I truly can't even begin to imagine. I hope you are as comfortable as possible with your current accomodations.
Now, I can certainly do my part in trying to keep you motivated. First off, I need you to open your diary (awful, I know, but it works great for accountability!). As for the exercise, I often find that running or going for a walk clears my mind and that. I've cried and I often sing too and I really don't care who sees me. My runs are all about ME. This is a chance for you to proof to yourself just how strong and how determined you are.
I'm here for you!!0 -

Ladies, thank you, thank you SO much.
Maria, yes, I will be glad to share my diary with my "friends", I have nothing to hide
As for the running, most definately I do not plan on giving up on it. I need to go home, I don't have my running gear. I plan on picking up a few things during my lunch tomorrow, shoes, clothes, our Vitamix. (Yeah I have my priorities)! My friends blender stinks. I miss my "good" green smoothies.
I am like you, I talk, sing, cry, hit trees, pray out loud, etc. Yeah, if anyone was to actually watch me, they would probably lock me up. Running is MY time, my clarity, my escape, my sanctuary. I zone out and leave the world around me. I had my pitty party on Monday and Tuesday night, ate anything, drank, cried, screamed, etc. Got it out of my system so to speak. Today I woke and was ready to refocus, get back on target and move forward. Hence why I contacted my MFP family. Right now, I am angry, tired, fed up. I don't know how long this will last, so I wanted to protect myself. Tomorrow I may be different, when the depression sets in, I know myself well enough that I will give up on me, say "why bother"? I don't want to fall into that trap again, thats why I gave you all my personal email in advance, that way I can hide.
Today was my busy Wednesday with work, church and bible study group, but the road is calling my name for me to visit tomorrow. And, I am looking very forward to it.
I will be okay, I am not worried. God is with me, I know He is. I already see a change in my husband. Not enought to go home, but, at least he's not calling me every 10 minutes, driving by my friends house. I spoke with a mutual friend, a strong, godly man from church, my husband actually had dinner with him last night and he shared what happened and that I "left him". He's going to meet with him again tomorrow, along with a couple other men. We'll see, its a start...
Again, tthank you all.0 -
It's free coffee day at 7-11. I think it goes until 9 am, so get some if you can! I already got mine
Leslye- That's the spirit. Depression and food seem to go well together and it's easy to fall in but you're stronger than that. Also, I'm glad there's some progress and I hope you can go home soon
Thamre- You are just moving right along! only 5 more miles to go and you'll be all done!

3.5 mile run today0
-
I decided to try running 6 miles today to prepare myself for my 10k next weekend. Holy cow...picked the windiest day to do this. I was fine when the wind was behind me...it was when a turned around to run back home. It must have took me 10 minutes to run up a little hill. For every 3 steps I took, the gusts of wind knocked me back 1.0

6.8 miles today0
