Walk to Cure Psoriasis is a great opportunity to help shed some of those lbs and support a wonderful cause. Find a participating location near you. http://walk.psoriasis.org/site/PageServer?pagename=walk_event_list
They have a 1k and 5k walk or a 5k run. I am big supporter and advocate for Psoriasis ever since my little boy started getting plaque Psoriasis at age 4. He is such a champ when it comes to dealing with it and dealing with kids at school. He is 8 years old now and we all know how kids can be mean. Luckily, he hasn't had many cases of kids being too mean about it. No one asks for this horrible skin disorder and to date there is no cure for Psoriasis. If you like to walk or jog this is a wonderful way to get your exercise and support those who need a cure.
Happy trails!!!

I was diagnosed with Psoriasis (I have plaque, guttate, as well as invert psoriasis - covered about 60-70% of my body at one point, now mostly under control) when I was 19 and a sophomore in college (almost 10 years ago). I love the National Psoriasis Foundation and the Walk :O) Your little guy sounds like a champ, and as long as he keeps a positive attitude about it and can educate kids/people about it when they say something about it, instead of brushing it off like its no big deal, he will be just fine! And you are doing great by being such a fantastic advocate for him as well! Good luck to you~0

I have psoriasis too, was diagnosed at the age of 7. I live in the UK so can't join a walk, but I hope you guys that are joining in have a great day. Lots of love to your son - it really does get easier to deal with, both physically and psychologically.0

Jenn152 - he does a really good job at explaining to other kids what he has and that it's not contagious. It is starting to go into remission and I hope it stays that way. Since he is so young there is not much medication he can use other than ointments. He's been taking Jr Omega 3-6-9 and Acrylic Acid gel cap supplements, which seem to be helping. I know it must have been difficult at times for you. I'd imagine being a young adult with it would be harsh on ones self-esteem. Not easy. Glad you have a positive outlook on it.
Vegangirl - Thanks for the encouraging words. I hope it does get easier for him. As his mom, I hate to see him suffer like this, but all in all he's been a real champ. Doesn't complain much about it.0
