Guys: I fear for my unconceived children

I've posted a topic like this before, but this is a little different. To preface: i ride a bike. I've got a good saddle, i use the shorts, and chamois butt'r. The issue is that when i got done with an 8 mile ride yesterday, i felt like i'd been in the winning video on AFV. Today, the boys are still sore. Everything else is fine though. Should i try a new saddle, or is this something that goes away?

Do you have padded bike shorts? Obviously I'm not a dude, but I would think they might help some. They sure helped my sore tail. I know they look silly but they do have some that aren't all tight (look up baggy cycling shorts) or you can get a liner that goes inside your normal pants so you have some extra padding.

If an 8 mile ride produces sensations like that then I'd say it is either the saddle or the saddle position. If you haven't been properly fitted for your bike then this can cause pain. Without seeing you ride I'd say take it in to a local bike shop that can properly measure your body geometry to fit the bike to your body. Life is too short to ride in pain.

Seat is the issue try leaning it a bit forward also easy back on the bad boys to give them some room every once in a while.

Change the angle on your saddle.

My boyfriend is not a fan of bike riding for this exact reason. Per my friend who is a major biker (to and from work, to almost every social gathering, etc), go to a local bike shop that sells parts and there are seats that are made to help guys to have this same problem.

Gel padded shorts. If they cost less than about $50 they're junk! Also, get a saddle with a V channel down the middle, it helps out.

I totally agree! A professional fitting is worth every penny. All seats are not created equal and you have to find one that fits your pressure points correctly and a fitting will tell you if you put more weight on the front, middle, or back while riding. Don't ride in pain!

Yeah right I've heard that line before in a bar! (Obviously I'm not a dude.)
  • Definitely take the bike to a bike shop. Also, I use not only padded shorts, but also a padded / gel seat AND a padded seat cover. This helps out tremendously. I know it's different for guys, but Rian is using all the same things when he rides, and he is feeling fine!
