I have dieted so long on my own (only one successful attempt)
this time I am trying low carb as I know when I have carbs I just crave more and end up binging
any other low carbers - especially vegetarians that would befriend me

Just curious, how do you get your calories without bread?
Almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts, etc. is how I get calories while eating little to no bread...0 -

Hi. I just friended you!.
Here is a great recipe I posted in another forum. The carbs are in beans and vegetables.
**Sweet potato and black bean burritos**
-Large sweet potato
-Half of a red onion
-Olive oil
-One can organic (or low sodium) black beans, rinsed
-1tbsp of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (usually found in the Mexican section)
-One small bunch of spinach
-Large flour tortillas
-6oz. shredded monterrey jack cheese
Cut a large sweet potato and half a red onion in chunks.
Combine in large pan with olive oil. Cover for 10-12 minute but stir occasionally, until softened.
Add one can of black beans and 1 tbsp of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce.
Mix for 2 minutes.
Add a small bunch of coarsely chopped spinach.
Let cook for another two minutes.
Divide among five large flour tortillas. Divide 6 oz. shredded Monterrey jack cheese between each shell.
Roll burrito style and cook in pan, approximately 3 minutes on each side.
Obviously you can add whatever else you want and spices. It's great. We made it last night. Grilling the burritos in the reheated pan was an especially nice touch. I saved the rest in the refrigerator and they were great the next day.
This is inexpensive too. I don't have a nutrition profile for them but I feel confident saying you're safe with these: healthy fats, fiber, low cholesterol, high protein, beta-carotene, and folic acid! What an awesome dinner or lunch!

I totally understand your issues!! I've been doing this since the last week of Dec, 2010 and have lost 52 pounds. You CAN do it!! I've cut out almost all bread. I now use the thin buns instead of regular bread and I have one every day....that way I feel like I'm still having bread but it's not as damaging. The other thing that helped me at first was to substitute sweet potatoes or yellow squash for baked potatoes. Breads, potatoes and pastas were my down fall!! I do let myself have them on occasion....just not daily and I watch my portions. The other things that has REALLY helped is to really keep the water going......it's the best thing to help with cravings and your body does get used to it after a while. Just be persistent!! You can add me to your friend list if you'd like. We can all use support!! Sonja0
