Operation Shrink My Soul

Okay, that may seem like an odd goal, especially on a weight loss forum.

About a year and a half ago, when I was 25 lbs slimmer than I am now, my brother introduced me to his future mother-in-law. During the small talk, she discovered that I have 4 children and that the youngest was 10 months old. She commented on how "Skinny" I was. She then said that she needed a large body to house her tremendous soul. I had never had my soul judged based on my jean size before, and was quite frankly stunned. I have, I confess, had many laughs at her expense since then (I guess you could blame that on my tiny little soul:wink: ) Unfortunately, I have expanded since then, in body if not in soul.

I am now starting a campaign to Shrink My Soul, or at least my body to fit my little soul. I will post little daily goals in an effort to motivate myself and anyone else interested.

Mission accomplished: 30 minutes on the dreadmill. Teach you to call my soul small.

Your mission for the day, should you choose to accept, is to avoid all invisible calories. What is an invisible calorie, you may ask. An invisible calorie is something that you eat without really thinking about. Examples: I have a terrible habit of licking the knife after I make my kids peanut butter sandwich, I also tend to neglect to count samples eaten at the store, or tastes of dinner while it is cooking.

You and I have laughed many times over that remark. It was just so silly - however, it has, also, served as motivation for us to get back on the program and shrink our souls again. If we had been smart, we would have hung on to our tiny souls instead of expanding them by eating too many goodies. Keep posting your challenges. I am in this with you.

You mission for the day, should you choose to accept, is to make a plan and stick to it. Is you plan to exercise today? Is you plan to make a menu for the day and stick to it? whatever your plan is, make sure you follow through.
