I JUST SWITCHED MY FOOD SETTINGS TO SHOW:
CALORIES
CARBS
FAT
SODIUM
SUGAR

HOW MUCH SODIUM IS TOO MUCH? IF ANYONE KNOWS IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP! THANKS IN ADVANCE :flowerforyou:

    Hi!

    On a 1,200 calorie diet the recommended value is 2,500 mg per day. However, I'm trying to keep around 1,200 - 1,400 or less. Just remember, sodium is going to hold in water, so the more you have, the more water weight you're holding on to.

    Yes everything has sodium in it but everything does not have salt and salt is a adiction. If you have put salt on everything even without tasting it then you have taught your body that it needs salt. Sodium is a preservitive to help keep canned, frozen and some fresh foods to stay fresh when cooked or until you are ready to eat them. If you are cooking your meal I do sugest that you use different flavored seasonings. But please don't use Onion salt, Garlic salt, Lawrey's salt, ect...because they are still considered being in the salt family. Try this for just one month. Take salt out of your home out of your cooking and use other seasonings, and then when that month is over bring back the salt and use it just like you did before. You will find out real fast on how salty your food will taste and I will bet you that after that you might not go back to using salt.

    When I cook I dont use salt, but the food that ive been buying has salt already in it.

    I think the amount is the same for anyone. I use sea salt when I add salt to food I cook. The sea salt reacts differently than regular table salt and has other minerals to help with processing it. If you are drinking a lot of water you need to get enough sodium to balance what you are losing. I really don't worry about it since I drink enough water to float a ship. :noway: Usually if you retain fluid it is not just too much sodium it usually has to do with other minerals being out of balance especially potassium.
