C25K NSV!

I ran my first 5k tonight!!!
I'm on week 8 of C25K and I've been wanting to try and run a full 5k for some time now, but I kept putting it off. I'm running in the Susan Komen Race for the Cure at the end of October so i figured I'd try and test myself tonight. I didn't think I was going to be able to run the whole thing... But I did it!! In 35:30! I know it's not the fastest time but I never thought I would be able to run a 5k or run for 35 minutes!!
I've seen people post questions before about how successful C25K is with weight loss and I just wanted to say that I credit pretty much all of my weight loss, which is 18 lbs in 2 months, to the program. I've still got more to go but I'm happy!
For all of you who are just starting... stick with it!!! It's so worth it!

Congrats! I'm only on week one of the C25K program and honestly can't imagine doing the whole thing yet. But I hope to get there! Thanks for the inspiration! Were you ever a runner in the past? I've never been anything close--never before even have the desire--but now something in me wants to be able to go out and run for long distances at one time without stopping. I think there just might be a runner hiding deep down inside me!
WAY TO GO! I'm very impressed!:drinker:0 -
Great job! I did C25K, then promptly sprained my ankle 2 weeks after finishing, so I'm working my way back up. I'm so glad that it worked for you--that's wonderful!0

Thanks for posting! I'm on week 4 of C25K, and I NEED motivation. It's definitely helped knock me off of a 4 week plateau and start losing again, but it's really hard for me!0

No I have never been a runner ha. I played soccer for ten years and that involves a decent amount of running but I've never been able to run long distances.
The program didn't become challenging for me till about week 4 but I remember thinking there is no way I'll be able to run for 20 minutes or 25 or whatever but you can! The program is amazing!0 -
wonderful post - congrats on your success - I'm plan to start C25K next spring0
