Another sugar thread...

It's pretty much impossible for me to stay within sugar targets on a reduced calorie diet, even when I don't eat any fruit that day. I've cut back on milk to help, and have also upped my calorie goals (just started NROWLFW.) This makes it a little more manageable, and I actually stayed within that target today - something that never happens. When logging I noticed the biggest culprits were milk, bread, and GASP! my friggin protein bar. Does anyone here know a brand that has lower sugar content? Or maybe even makes their own?

I don't advocate drinking milk - I pretty much think it is one of the most disgusting things people consume (although I have no problem with cheese - go figure). That being said, eliminating fruit and milk (which is the primary source of calcium for most people), doesn't necessarily seem like the healthiest way to loose weight. Is there a health related reason (like diabetes) that would cause you to completely avoid even natural sugars?0

almond breeze unsweetened vanilla, natures own 50 calories whole wheat bread and I don't eat protein bars but I drink Whey Protein in frosty chocolate and its only 1 gram of sugar. good luck!0

I'm not completely avoiding them, just trying to stay within guidelines. I didn't eliminate fruit, I just don't eat it everyday like I used to. Fruits are not complex carbs, and I want to limit simple carbs to get the most out of my calories. I am not diabetic, I am just looking for ways to stay within guidelines. If you look at my diary for the day you will see that almost everything has sugar in it whether it is sweet or not. Just because a sugar is natural doesn't mean you can consume it freely. Same can be said for fats - you wouldn't load up on EVOO just because the fats it is comprised of are thought to have health benefits, would you?0
