Help! How do I stay motivated when my husband just wants to stay on the couch. I can usually get him outdoors for walks, but I enjoy putting in gym time, and walking doesnt really cut it for my idea of fitness. It is hard enought to motivate my self to go, but now I have to motivate for 2? Or how do I keep him from holding me back.

You have to use your own motivation, his is up to him. My husband is one of those naturally slim people and eats what he wants. He is retired and works in his shop or outside most of the day. My exercise whatever it may be is always up to me alone. Do this for yourself, if he needs to lose then he may find himself playing catch up with his very hot wife someday....lol!

either he joins you or not, his choice. You have to do this for yourself. Don't make yourself miserable fighting him along the way. Once he sees your results, he will start joining in. Have you thought about riding bikes together? My husband has joined in and now we have weights in the spare bedroom he uses and we just rode 42 miles last Saturday. (we have been working up to that with smaller rides during the week). Tonight we hike some fierce trails in the mountains to change it up. Good luck!
  • Why not walking? If you walk at a rate of 3.5 you will end up burning the most calories.

In actual answer to your question. The only person you can really take care of is you. Unfortunately, all you can do is say, lets go and....and maybe warn him again you are about to leave...and if he still doesn't get up...go.

All the best of luck on your journey.

Why not regard the walks with your husband as enjoying quality time together? Then he is enjoying himself exercising, you are gaining additional exercise (as well as your current gym work), and enjoying his company at the same time.

Can you walk to the gym? Or is there any exercise at the gym (or nearby), which he enjoys doing?
