I've done it, first relationship was off and on for 2 years..he just couldn't handle the commitment and wasn't mature enough. Second relationship lasted 5 months and i broke up with him for numerous reasons, one being that he continued to flirt and talk about doing sexual acts with other women online...
I signed up again for online dating after we broke up but honestly my heart just isn't in it anymore....maybe again in the future but just not right now.0 -

It was like a leotard...and the upper part was like...a furry hoodie thing, with a long tail..and the hood had a snakehead on it, that came out front, with a head, fangs and tongue.

I've decided definitively that online dating from dating websites is absolutely not for me. Ever. I hate everything about it. I've had decent dates, and lame ones. But I'm not into the whole expectations that this date will either turn into a relationship or sex, and the interview-style dates where I'm being quizzed by a guy I stopped being interested in 15 minutes into the date.
But I realized I'm the one with the issue. 'Cause I don't care if I ever get a boyfriend. I just like hanging around with guys. I figured I'd get out of the way and let the serious girls have at it.
It is definitely not for everyone! I had actually given up on it myself when I got the message from my now-boyfriend.
For me, my job is isolated and most of my friends are out of state, so online was the best way to meet folks.
My parents and grandparents were very wary of my methods as well, but they love Andrew now and have told me to hold into him. haha.0 -

I met this girl across from a bar, in the park..and she wore the outfit I described above. The tail was probably 3 feet long and the head was ...i dunno, it was like a head, on top of the hood of the outfit, and it came out like..the length of a banana, but was as thick as say, your forearm. That makes sense. I have ended up dating people online but from the days of Myspace and Facebook, even here on MFP. Like I wasn't looking, and neither were they - we just hit it off. The online part isn't what didn't work for me - it was the expectations from the dating site people, I think (or my perceived expectations).0 -

I have used a few online dating sites. I met my current bf on plenty of fish. I have had pretty good luck with online sites. I don't have many other options for meeting people. I work with family, when i was still at university the guys were too young, and my only dating disaster story came from dating my old neighbor! I also used singlesnet. Good luck0

it's much funnier after half a bottle of vodka...but here goes
short version: he's an idiot. i moved out after living with him for 4yrs...we had issues.
him "please come back home...you belong here...we can be a family...blah blah blah"
i looked up his old POF profile (we had issues, remember?) to find he's updated it with new pics etc.
so i created a profile and sent him a message.
back and forth for a week...he asks what else i like to do in my spare time and wants to meet. i was totally going to show up but my anger got the best of me...
i said "i like to make up fake profiles on dating sites just to see what kind of *kitten***le my boyfriend really is"
he says "hi becky"
end of story. he never heard from me again. and i didn't get any of my *kitten* back from the house either.

Not really, I met one who wanted that, and all I wanted to do was go dancing.
We did end up back at her place though, cause it was too cold to walk, so she suggested goin there to call a cab.
I'm not half as bad as the girls.
I met an asian chick and went for coffee once (she was into anime and like...xmen, harry potter...a little weird) and one girl I brought to a mardi gras party at a gay bar. She's still pretty cool, we talk often.

I met my boyfriend on it. We have been together 6 tears in December and we have a two year old. My best mate met her fiancée on one and my other friend lives with a girl he met on one. I know az few others who met online including one who is now married and moved to Canada from the UK. Most of us are under 30.
I would say it works but I had a lot of creeps try to get me to go on a date but I only ever went on one date and luckily it worked out. I know that my best mate went on quite a few dates and dated a few people which did not work out but now she is happy even if her fiancée in my eyes is psycho I probs shouldn't say that, considering I am the maid of honour. haha 0 -
