Good morning Lighter Than Air team. October 1 is right around the corner. Most of us have completed introductions in a prior thread and we are most appreciative to know something more about our team mates! The purpose of this thread is to give you the insight as to how we will conduct our business as the challenge goes on.

1. The purpose of Lighter Than Air is not to win the challenge to get around the world first (although that would be way cool). Our goal is to support and motivate our team mates so that individually, we can do as well as we possible can in our weight loss journey. So, please do not nake comments that would hurt any team member's feelings or suppress their desire to continue.

2. Try to be consistent in your exercise program. Since we are not reporting weight, please pay close attention to daily calories burned by exercise and report them to Susan. Her email is sbm4@comcast.net or send a message to pangea250 via MFP. She will update our master spreadsheet (which she designed by the way) and email it to me daily. I will report to Lee and he will update the master map. I will also keep our website up to date. Did you notice the links to Susan's spreadsheet as well as the master map of the competition? If you can think of anything else that needs to be included in our site, please don't hesitate to ask.

3. Did you remember to friend everybody?

4. I will be posting frequent motivational thoughts. Feel free to add your own thoughta to mine or to create a new thread. Just be sure to identify our group in the subject line as I have done above.

5. Best wishes for success and great competition in our challenge. I'll announce our own weekly winners every Sunday evening. Look for the threads. I'll also develop some weekly mini challenges to go along with our exercise. This should be fun!!

    1. OK, but can I just say, once, and then I won't say it again .... We're SO going to win. :-) In seriousness, yes, keeping things positive is the most important thing.

    2. Which will be better here? Channel everything through pangea, or email to susan? I would imagine that for susan it would be easier to get one list each week, rather than lots and lots of individual emails from all over the place? Pangea do you want this to come in daily / weekly? And on the thread, your wall, or in a pm?

    3. I think so. If I've left anyone out, please add me.

    4. Can we keep it all in one place? Cause I get lost really easily on here! It would be idea for me if we could just hang on to one thread at a time.

    Do we start Saturday?

    Can't wait! This is going to be fun. I'm going to recheck to see if I'm friends with everyone. It's been hectic and mostly everyone requested me.

    Susan - how often do you want us to check in, and is email or MFP easier for you?

    Even though it's not part of the main challenge, do we maybe want to do this in our own thread? I don't have strong feelings either way, but if it would be supportive, why not?

    Yay!

    I'm so happy that Bill is the leader for our group. He really gives us a cohesive feel. Not sure if that's describing it right. He is just good at bringing us together and making everyone feel included and part of the group. I know I feel that way, anyway.

    Who knows if we'll "win" in the sense of getting around the world before any other team. I have my doubts. I know of a group that has almost every member doing well over 1000 calories/day. But I must say that I sort of feel like I've already won, because, in a personal challenge to myself, I've kicked some serious *kitten* in calories over the past 10 days, as well as doing some watchful eating. I have a renewed sense of commitment to my weight loss goals. Yep, I've already won, and this challenge hasn't even started.

    It makes no difference to me how you want to send your calorie totals to me. By email to sbm4@comcast.net or PM to Pangea250 here on MFP...no difference at all. I would ask that you send totals to me daily. If you are unable to work out in a day, please send me a 0 count so that I know you didn't forget. If you send me a total and then find you need to add to it later in the day (which would always be awesome!), just send me a revised number for the day. I'll probably send the spreadsheet to Bill every morning at around 8-ish Eastern time. As long as I get your total before I send it, it'll be on there. Otherwise, it'll be up the next day.

    Please send me your totals daily. If you don't, we'll send out a big biker dude to strong-arm you and, well, that just wouldn't be pretty. It's hard to work out with broken kneecaps.

    I think it might be good to keep everything in one thread? Yes. I, for one, didn't notice this thread until meerkat70 posted to it just now. I would hate to miss something.

  • Pangea, thanks for the kind words. Everybody on our team is special to me. I also am ready for this challenge to begin. I have kind of had a mentality over the last week that any exercise calories I burn would not count for the challenge, so why not rest a day or so. But now I am UP again and ready to go on Saturday. Daily calories updates to susan are fine with me. I kind of thought that individual discussions should be in separate threads so we don't have to wade through so much bulk, but I'll do it however you want. I think I'll make a new master thread and label it as such so there will be no question. Is it ok if I post motivational comments in separate threads though? Will others join me in encouraging our team frequently? BTW, I have not been in contact with Dino in several days and he has not logged onto MFP for the last 3. I hope he is okay and still interested. Anybody know?
