Does anyone have running shoes that they absolutely love?

Vibram 5-fingers!!!! Getting these shoes changed running from a chore to a pleasure for me!

I hate all mine. I have shin splints right now, and plantar fascia in my right arch. So I would like an answer to this as well.

personally i prefer Asic 2160s. The Cumulus were too soft and didnt care for the Nimbus. Just came off a pair of 2150s with ~400 miles or so and still good for another couple hundred probably. Go to a running store and try some on. i also use a quality insert. Mine is from fleet feet. same shoe at most sports store but i did not like the inserts at Dix (spell ck gets this word), Sports Auth etc.

Be sure to try shoe with the insert if you plan to use insert. I dont think the Asic 2160s need it, i have flat feet so it helps provide a little extra arch.

I think this is a personal preference kind of question. The type of shoe that is best for you will depend on the surfaces you run on most (track vs. treadmill vs. street), how your foot lands (heel vs. toe vs. mid-foot), how far you run per week, and then just what feels most comfortable to you (based on arches, foot width, heaviness of the shoe, and cushioning). My last pair of shoes was by Brooks, and I liked them OK but they are no longer made. I just bought a pair of Saucony Pro Grid Ride 4 and I absolutely love them! I went to a running specialty store to be fitted to my unique needs and breaking these shoes in has been easier than any other I've ever owned. I definitely recommend going out and getting a professional opinion vs. just picking something random off the shelf.

The best ones are ones that fit you right. And that's going to be different for everyone based on weight, stride, foot, etc etc.

That said, I've got a pair of Asics Gel-Equation 3s that I love and have basically run into the ground (pun intended). I still run in them occasionally, but my primary running shoes are New Balance 890s. A little more towards a minimalist shoe than the Asics, but they are really light and my feet are very happy in them.

I've also got a pair of reebok realflex for trail running that I really like.

just bought Nike's new Dual Fusion- super light, heel support, cushion. i was wearing an old pair of nike shox

the difference is night and day!!!
  • I love my Brookes, second pair as I wore the first ones out last year. Best advice is to get fitted at a specialist shop to ensure you get the right ones for you. I did and think it was worth paying the bit extra on the trainers for a shoe that won't cause you pain.
