I am 23 weeks pregnant and I just saw in the food diary a listing for Eating for pregnancy -300 calories. I had my diary set at 750 calorie deficit per day before I got pregnant and then decreased it to a 500 calorie per day deficit when I found out I was pregnant. Is this -300 calories something I should use? How have you all done it?

Replies

  • you ADD the 300 calories because the baby is now using calories as well.
  • Just looked at your profile and realize you have kids already... so I'm sure you know you shouldn't be purposely eating in a deficit while pregnant but each to their own. You should eat for maintenance IMO.

Well I'm not at a healthy weight (unfortunately). So I am eating a net 2000 calories a day anyway because of my activity level and the extra weight I am already carrying around. I am not going hungry by any means, but I am trying to limit the amount of weight gain (not eliminate it altogether) and yes I am taking my vitamins :)
  • Congrats on your addition to be btw, having a new lil person join your life is such an exciting time. :) I think 2000 cals sounds great, lol better than me during my first pregnancy. :) I stopped counting the weight gain at 75lbs... oi.
