NSV for me

Today is employee meeting day here at work and every employee meeting we have “birthday cake” to celebrate the birthdays in the month. And by birthday cake I mean 2 Costco sheet cakes and just to be fair one is white cake and the other is chocolate. I get to stay in the office and man the phones while everyone else is in the break room. So this makes resisting these cakes for the last 8 months even easier…but inevitably there is always one or two people that will still come and ask if I would like a piece.

So this is how my NSV goes.

Boss (carrying left over cake, forks and plates): Hey Kiddo want a piece of cake?
Me: No thank you.
Boss: I knew you were going to say that.
Me: I’m glad you knew I was going to say that… (Big proud smile)
Boss: Here you are eating your apples and everyone else is eating cake. I’m so proud of you! I know this journey isn’t easy and you are doing such a great job. I really am proud of you!
Me: Thanks (speechless with a lump in my throat because I’m so touched and excited)

WOW! Never knew I would have such a rewarding feeling by just turning down a peice of cake!

Brilliant, you have a great Boss by the souns of it.....1..He noticed...and 2 He didn't try to persuade you to change your mind. Well done!

Awesome!!! Good for you! You have more will power than I do. We have the same thing here, and I say no......But eventually I break down sometimes.

Jilly ...my boss is amazing he is very supportive once he realized what I was doing. At first he thought I was "sick" and didnt know how to approach me...but once I came clean and explained myself. Now he is asking me to help other's here. He is 64yrs old and in great shape..I love that he calls me kiddo. Such a neat guy!

Nippz-7919... I made a decision and I told myself there are no gobacks. It's ok to eat it sometimes...just in moderation and if you can sneak in a walk on break that works too!
