Take calcium, and if you have a chance, swim or go sit in the hot tub. Swimming is my best "active recovery".

You could: Take some asprin, use a hot pad, take a hot bath, rub the muscles that hurt, apply cream for aching muscles and rest. Those are a few things I can think of quickly.
  • Calcium? Hmmm didn't know that! I will try it! I wish I had a pool to jump into! But I will defenatly be takng an extra long hot bath tonight!
    Thank u!

ten minute swim after a workout seems to stave off the soreness

If I'm really sore, then I'll swim for cardio the next day. Advil if I've aggravated an injury. I also recommend topical analgesics.
  • Is it soreness or pain? If it's soreness, an epson-salt bath is a life saver. Also, rubbing the muscles firmly can help break down the lactic acid. Also, make sure you do your cool down stretches after a good workout. If it's joint pain or a sharp muscle pain, take care! Your body is probably telling you something.

Hot shower, hot tub, heating pad, and self massage. My legs were KILLING me the other day and I rubbed them out and the next morning I woke up like NEW!
  • I have just started working out! By that I mean my treadmill and walks thru my neighborhood. I was very very motivated yesterday mornin.Very pumped up and ready to go. Soooooooo Living out in the country I have a very beautiful senic wak, needless to say I kept walking up and down the hills and suddenly I realized I ad to walk back! LOL I think I walked about 3-4 miles. Lots and lots of hills. My body is sore in place I didn't know I had! So ya it is muscle sore and sitting at my desk all day here at work is not making it any better. Tried a couple of advil... not working! I guess I just need to wait till I get home. I want to do my treadmill tonight but not sure if that will make me feal worse or better! I wish I had a pool!
