Post Break Up Lull

Hey guys! I'm really not one to rant or whine about much, but I've had some stuff on my mind and I figure this is the healthy place to get it out and get some support. See, I broke up with my now ex-girlfriend a few weeks ago. The relationship just wasn't what I need and she has some things on her end she needs to sort out. I wasn't bummed at all when we parted ways. In fact, I was rather excited because I now have a better understanding for what I need out of a good relationship and the type of girl I should keep an eye out for.
I've been perfectly fine since then but starting around the weekend or so my singleness has really been dawning on me. I haven't been miserable or anything, but I have felt very lonely and lethargic. I'm normally a guy who can be perfectly happy single, but I think the fact that I'm so ready for a great relationship is getting to me.
I probably wouldn't have brought this up here if it didn't relate to my fitness. I guess its not a huge deal, but I've noticed my eating habits slip and I've missed a couple workouts. I guess I just feel so 'blah' that my focus is off. I don't want to lose myself and all the progress I've made.
Any of you guys have any advice so that can I kick my *kitten* back into place? Relate? Going through the same thing? I'm all ears.

Sorry about the break up. Use this AS your motivation and support! If I get sad or down about something, I hit the gym. I used to go straight for food, but am breaking out of that. Hold your head up!!!0

I had to end a relationship a few weeks ago simply because of distance. It sucks and I am miserable, and as a result, I have spent the last 3 weeks in bed on the weekends eating cheetos and drinking chocolate milk. We might give it another go next summer when my overseas stint is over...but until then, I can't let myself get fat. Nobody will want me if I am fat, so I made myself throw out the cheetos, put my shoes on, and go get sweaty. Heart is still broken, but at least my *kitten* won't get bigger.0

I can totally relate. My break up happened back in April but I am now a single Mom. My singleness has been hitting me a lot here lately. I have no advice, just wanted to say I totally get what you mean and I am trying not to let it get the best of me as well.
Good luck and feel free to add me if you'd like0 -
I am slightly ADD, but what works for me is distraction.
Set a new, fitness-related goal. Sign up for a 5K race, challenge a friend to a max-lift competition. Train yourself to walk on your hands. Whatevs....
Sorry about your break-up, but kudos to you for using it as a way to learn more about yourself and what you need.
Who knows? Maybe you'll meet "the one" at your 5K.....0 -
surround yourself with positive friends, and maybe pair up with someone to keep you accountable for your workout. get out of the house! for me, i would take myself out on dates, movie, dinner, bookstore, whatever. get you together. because if you're in a lull, chances are the sting of the break-up may be more than you realize, and it's never a good idea to hop out of one relationship and into another anyway. pick up on hobbies that you may have dropped in the name of coupledom. do whatever it is YOU want to do..but the crucial key is positivity. get your friends together!0

Thanks for the great ideas guys! I did just what some of you said and I took myself out for the night and had a good time. I don't normally go out without friends but it did feel rather liberating to do whatever I damn well felt like. XD And yeah, ready as I am, it wouldn't be fair to any girl I met if I'm still feeling like I am. I think I'll just stay steadfast to the road of recovery and channel it into my fitness.0

I was in your exact position around a month ago and I know how you will be feeling (I was in a 5 year realtionship) I felt really down after a few weeks passed but It picks up from here !
The main thing I reccomend to you is to keep busy doing worthwhile things. I put all my energy into exercise, playing in band, going to bars with friends and going out partying all weekend !
Now I wonder what on earth I was doing back then and enjoy the freedom so much.
I'm now the happiest I've ever been and seem to meet so many more new people and have more fun than I ever have.
And being single is like a whole new world after a long term relationship ;D !0
