Has anyone seen it? What did you think? Has anyone tried a juice fast?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I saw it. I give kudos to the guy for being able to go that long living on juice and not turn into a slug, but I also thought it seemed a bit unrealistic for average people on a budget. That would be an insanely expensive way to go about getting healthy. I do have a friend that replaced his dinner with a fruit & kale smoothie for 2 weeks and he said he felt better. I tried it one night and was hungry so I ended up eating.0

I just watched this yesterday. I liked it,I thought it was pretty interesting. His results were amazing too. I've never been on a juice fast before but I am definitely curious now. I might try it when I lose more weight.0

I saw it, and while I think it's a good idea in theory I know that there's no way I'd even be able to stomach one glass of veggie juice, let alone do it for weeks on end. So, I read the book by the doctor in the film, Joel Fuhrman and I tried that instead. I lasted for three days and then I went to Subway. But then I ended up back here and decided to actually USE the site and it's worked out very well for me.0

I saw it too and was so inspired I bought a juicer...and used it once. It's currently for sale on craigslist, lol.
It worked for him because he had cash, no kids, no wife, and no job to report to every day for 60 days. I can't say I'd have the same results, since I have a husband and three kids. It would be very expensive. Plus, juicing isn't something that is sustainable. I'm sure you would lose weight doing a juice fast, only to gain some back when you start eating again. It would take a lot of will power.
My cousin and her husband tried this fast. They did it for about 10 days before they fell off the wagon for a day or two. Went back to it on and off for 35 days. They lost weight, but had horrible headaches, cloudiness, and fatigue inthe beginning. They did feel better the longer they did it, but eventually decided to go back to food, but make better choices.0 -
Juice fasting is not meant to go on forever. It is an extreme response to an extreme problem. Joe and Phil (from the documentary) both had an auto-imune disease. Both were facing death. Both lost the major contributing factor quickly. IF YOUR MOTIVATION IS HIGH ENOUGH, YOU CAN DO IT!
I saw the documentary on October 3rd and was so impressed that I started it the next day. It was hard for the first three days. Bad headaches, light headedness and hunger panges. But after that I was not EVER hungry. I felt better. And most important to me... The chest pain I had been having for a couple months had disappeared. I can look at a cookie and leave it there now. I did the fast for only ten days. I lost 22 pounds but more importantly I felt better.
I decided that after my grandmothers 100th birthday, I would fast again for longer this time. I have been reading everything I can get on the subject. November 1st I started a new juice fast. I have lost a total of 28 pounds in one month. I don't know how long I will do the fast this time. It may only be 15 days or it may be 60. That is not the point. I am changing my lifestyle. I thought before that "a day without meat is a day I starve." That is no longer the case. Though, I have no plans to go vegan, it no longer seems crazy to have most meals meat and dairy free during the week. Most of my life I have been a big meat eater. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a" BIG" meat eater. It is time for something new. The juice fast is just the jump-start to health. It is what you do when you end the fast that will determin wether you gain it back or not. If you are going to eat the same as you did before the fast, don't bother. But if you are determined to change your life, It will!0 -
I for got to say that my blood sugar went from close to 200 down to 110 in one month! (I have not been diagnosed with diabetis but several people in my family have, so I bought a meter.)0

I am looking forward to seeing it...As far as it being not doable with husband kids career etc...I have all of that husband 6 kids and a very busy career, not to mention filming....and I do juicing and green smoothies....I have discovered the cost is not bad....considering what I have paid to try to lose weight and didn't....I have not had the headaches etc...the opposite is the case, but I am down 15 pounds in 2 weeks and feel great...can hardly wait to see the movie...0

I'm on week 4 of my juice fast and plan on going 60 days. In the beginning I felt awful, had no motivation and wanted to give up. I stuck it out and now get up every day at 5am for a 2 mile walk! I've lost 21 pounds so far and hope to lose another 21
My target goal is to lose 90. After the fast I plan to eat a vegetable and fruit based diet.
It's not been easy! But it's easier than getting gastric bypass surgery which was my next step.0 -
I watched it. It's EXTREMELY expensive (and agreed, unrealistic for an average person) but I also didn't really understand why the guy couldn't just eat vegetables and fruits and lose weight that way. Why bother turning it into juice? Where was he getting protein from? I think juicing is good if you want some fruit juice and don't want the unhealthy stuff from the grocery store, but it's pretty pointless to buy a juicer so that you eat fruits and vegetables .... in liquid form. Further, why not just eat nothing but fruits and vegetables for a week and then slowly develop a new eating plan?
I also think 60 days is a bit severe. I guess if you're extremely overweight it's fine, but I can't imagine.
(No offense to anyone who juice fasts. You are amazing if you can actually do it.)0 -
As far as the cost...I have been unempoyed for over a year... I go to little mom and pop type places and buy the stuff that is on the way out. it is cheap and they always throw something extra in because if I didn't buy it they will have to throw it out anyway. I also bought a bunch of apples from walmat that were in 1/8th bushel bags for $.98 a bag. (about 5 pounds a bag) I bought 10 that was about 50 pounds of apples for $9.80 If you watch prices you can do it on the cheap. Also, talk to the produce manager. He/she might give you a deal since you will be buying a large quantity for a couple months. It never hurts to ask! If the first one says no there are several in most cities and towns to ask. Summer is probably the time to start the fast if you are really afraid of the cost. I can't wait that long.
I am on day three of my second fast and i didn't get the ill feelings that I did the first time. (I've been eating better.) I was only fasting for ten days last month and ate mostly vegan after that. I have lost 28 pounds as of today. (One month since the start of the first fast.) If you don't want to fast that is fine. Don't! You won't do it if your heart isn't in it anyway. I was having chest pains and didn't think I would live to change my diet. I was wondering if I would wake up the next morning. The experience has really changed my life. I know I will reach my goal weight now. It has never felt real before.
The reasons, as I understand it, to drink your fruits and veggies is (1) you need the nutrients to heal your abused body. (2) You could not eat all the nutrients you need even if you tried. (3) to give your digestive system a break. If your body is spending all day long breaking down food it has no time to heal itself.
As I said before, if you are not sure this is for you, don't do it. If you have tried everything else and you still have "food demons"
maybe it is for you. For me it is easier not to eat than to make good choices for two weeks. McD*****s and Burger K*** have always stopped my "diet" short. I felt no urge to go to either while I was on a juice fast. and while I was eating after my first fast I never felt the need to go.0 -
It is not as expencive as a funeral!0
