A Sit-Up?

I've been on many websites that tell you to bend your knees at a 90 degree angle and keep your hands at your sides to do beginner sit-ups, but honestly, that doesn't help!!! :grumble:

I'm trying to do unassisted sit-ups, meaning I don't want to put my feet underneath anything! One website said your abs are only used for the "first half" of the sit-up and it left me wondering "What do I use for the second half?" and "Is that even true?" :indifferent:

I can do 100 crunches easily, but I want to know how to get ALL THE WAY UP to a full sit-up. I highly doubt that you will pass PT if you ask if you can do crunches instead because they're easier or have someone hold your feet. :noway:
I only need to work my way up to 18, but at this point, I just want to know how to do ONE!

Any tips are appreciated! :flowerforyou:

I am doing some through the 30 day shred dvd. You have to put in 20 days with Jillian Michaels before you get to level 3 and she makes you do them! She will definitely tighten your core and give you the strength to do them if you stick with it!

    Good luck :)

That's correct, the top half of a sit up, and first part of the downward is controlled by the back muscles

my high school tai-chi trainer had us imagine there is a line we are holding and then use our hands to climb that imaginary line to do a first unassisted sit-up.
