To Those Who Have Zig Zagged

I've been on a pleateau for 3+ months and have recently started zig zagging, as of last week. I had a mid week spike of about 5 lbs, lost those, plus about 0.4 from my original starting weight last week. This week, I'm experiencing the same mid week spike, tho not as dramatically, I'm still down about 4 lbs from last Wednesday, but up from the start of the week. I'm weighing relatively consistently just to try to figure out what is going on. I know that my body will take some time to adjust to this method. I'm just curious, for those of you that have been doing it, did you experience some shifts as your body adjusted, and how long did it take before you started noticing results? Or, did you? This is seriously about my last hope to bust through this stupid plateau as I've tried everything! I'm hopeful that this is working, just taking a bit to get the DOWNWARD momentum going!
Thanks in advance!

I closley track my weight loss on a graph, and for the last year I noticed a definite pattern. I stay on a plateau for a couple months, ranging about 3 lbs. One week I'd be 131 and the next 128. Then, I jump down into a new plateau. On average, I have lost 1 lb. a month, which I am happy with, but I definitely understand your frustration. My weight loss often plateaus when I start a new workout or go to a new level of intensity, and I see the results in a few weeks. I suggest just sticking with it (assuming you are eating enough calories), and you'll see the results soon.0

I only weigh in once a week so I didn't see a huge shift, but I did start to lose right away. I was 169 for 6 weeks then once I started zig zagging I lost a pound per week for the next 5 weeks. Search plateau and there is a post about the different cycles of weight loss. This is just a stage and if you stick with it you will get past it. I have also tried eating my maintenance calories for a week then going back to my deficit. It confused my body and got me out of a plateau.0

I've just started to zig zag as well and not going to weigh myself until Saturday. I've made myself crazy with weighing every single morning and yelling at my scale is just pointless - believe it or not but it doesn't help! lol But I'd be interested to hear what others have to say about their experience.0

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. Anyone else out there with a personal zig zag story to share? I'm at, very least, holding steady which is good - it has proven I CAN eat more (than I was) and maintain - and I've stopped gaining - just (impatiently) waiting for it to start reversing!0

I have been consitently doing it for 4 months. I always spike and drop every week. But, like you mentioned, at the end of that week i am right about 1/2-3/4 lb. below the start of the week. Plus I feel so much stronger at the gym as opposed to a steady calorie deifcit.0

Glad I'm not the only one having that mid week spike! I do expect to have something of a loss by the end of the week! At least, I hope!0
