Plant v. Meat Protein, does it change how much I need?

i have a mostly vegan diet (no eggs, dairy, beef, chicken) but i eat fish maybe once or twice a week, but i eat a lot of beans, legumes, nuts, etc. most of my nutritional goals are preset but it says i should only eat 45 grams of protein a day and i usually eat 50-75 grams per day. i was reading about how too much protein can be bad for your kidneys but does the amount of protein i need change because its not from meat? i also heard that your body actually only processes about 23 grams of protein until it diverts the rest of the protein to fat. i'm not really sure what to believe because there are so many rumors. i don't usually go over with fat or sodium and i don't eat canned beans either.
