Hey my crazy runners! I have a question for you all: What has been the most scenic race for you all? What was that race in the US that made you run with total awe about the beauty of nature? I am going to run my first half marathon sometime next year but I feel like I should sign up for real motivation. Any thoughts on location?

The only one I have ran was in Knoxville, TN.. it's pretty but I'm sure there are better races as far as scenery goes. I have ran a 5k in Cades Cove (Great Smoky Mtns National Park) but it was a one time only deal. I do some of my long runs there and every single time I am amazed at the beauty.

My upcoming race is in Atl. I hope the scenery is nice!

I'm interested in some other answers!

Eugene, Oregon.......Pre country....running capitol of the world as far as I am concerned. While the 1/2 marathon might not be scenic (downtown area) the community gets behind the event and it is fun and memorable.

I have heard that the Seaside Half marathon in Seaside, FL is one of the best. Flat, and along some on the most beautiful beaches in the country. I really want to run it, but the timing didn't work out for me. (it's in early March every year.)

I signed up for my first half & I'm due to run it in January. It's the Tinkerbell 1/2 & runs through downtown Disney, Disneyland, California Adventure, & all over Anaheim.

I picked it because I <3 Disneyland & I can drive to Anaheim within 2 hours so it shouldn't be too stressful *fingers crossed*.

For fun scenery I would definitely choose a Disney race. They have 2 halfs at Disneyland and I think 2-3 halfs at Walt Disney World to choose from.

Hmm - Disneyland is fun, some cool stuff through the parks, but also mixed in with streets, commercial buildings and parking lots. The labor day race usually go through the baseball stadium which is pretty cool (not sure if the Tinkerbell race does or not).

I might have to vote for Surf City in Huntington Beach. It is a pretty awesome half, run mostly along PCH (the full marathon is little boring). Makes for a nice weather get away if you live in the snow. Cool medals and a good after race party too.

I ran the Disneyland 1/ 2 marathon twice, so much fun! Although there isn't much "natural" beauty, it was so fun running through Disneyland, Downtown Disney, Angels Stadium, and the community is out there cheering you on: high school/jr high bands, cheerleaders, boy & girl scouts, etc. You are honeslty entertained the entire run.

Did you run that heatwave year? I think it was 2007, they almost shut down the race. It got up to 107 that day, it was ugly out there.

I'm looking at Bryce Canyon Half Marathon right now. Thoughts? Sounds like it'll be a hot one.
