HRM Montior- Zero out?

SO I just bought my Polar FT7..and I've used it probably 7-8 times. the first few times it worked great! then it stopped reading my heart rate (like it said it was 00) for a minute here and a minute there.
Have any of you had this issue? I haven't washed the chest strap yet, I still need to get a garment bag to wash it in so I can toss it in with my dri-fit clothes. How did you fix it? What did you do? Is this common?

Do you make sure to wet the 2 sensor areas on the strap ?

That's odd. It has never happened to me. You should contact their customer service department, they will be able to troubleshoot the problem.0

It happens on my FT4 sometimes. I have to stop and adjust it...if I notice. I have complete entire workouts and not had it work though0

Mine does from time to time too. It just didn't make good contact (yeah, make sure the sensors are wet too) and didn't pick your heart rate up. I found if I make it too tight for me, it actually harder to pick up the reading. I'm sure too loose will have the same effect. Just adjust the tightness, and move the band left & right to adjust it. It'll pick it up.
Also, make sure you rinse it right after every time you use it.0 -
2 reasons i have had it happen.
1) the battery is dieing or the batterie in the sensor is dead already.
2) your chest has moved and is not on you good for a reading or you did not wet it enough. One time it happened i wet it and it got on shirt when putting it on and must have dried it a little so messed up0 -
Make sure you rinse the chest strap after every workout and then make sure it is wet enough before you start using it.

I usually run it under water before I put it on. I'll have to loosen the band and see what happens. How do you usually wash the chest strap? (Could you tell I've only had it a week LOL). I'll have to get in the habit of rinsing it after I take it off. Thanks for your input!0

After every use, I'll run my strap under running warm water, and rub it with my fingers to loosen the salt from the sweat. Every week or so I put it in a quart-sized jar that is 3/4 filled with very hot water and a very small amount of liquid hand soap. I shake it up for a minute or two, then empty, refill with hot water, shake again, etc. Repeat until the water no longer makes suds. Also, make sure you wet the two sensor pads before putting it on.0
