So I'm closer to goal - about 10ish pounds. I'm running my first half marathon in 2 1/2 weeks and I've decided to up my calories to a .5 lb a week loss (though I haven't quite made it up there yet - baby steps - I've basically increased my daily calories by about 300). I'm less concerned with losing up until the race. I just want to give my body what it needs to thrive. I felt like 1500 -1600 calories was not enough after I kind of hit a wall after running 10 miles last week - I did eat 2400 calories that day so no worries there. So far with 1800 - 1900 calories I've been feeling A LOT better.
Anyway, I've also been kind of forced to change some of the things I'm eating - mainly due to different produce being available with fall. It's harder to find organic fresh versions of my summery stir-fry veggies so now I'm doing more butternut squash and - get this - potatoes.
This week I'm really finding that I'm more relaxed and I'm not eating the same things all the time. I've been religiously eating the same breakfast, lunch and snacks and mostly dinners for a while - and yes, I hit stalls/plateaus after every drop of weight. I'm so used to them by now, they don't even bother me - well, not completely.
Anyway, I'm having a BLAST experimenting with different foods - still tracking everything but looking forward to getting to eat different things each day. AND as an added bonus, the scale hasn't popped up 1 or 2 pounds like it usually does. In fact, this morning I weighed in .4 pounds lighter.
I feel like this is a good transitional period for me into maintenance, even though I'm still at a deficit and I'm hoping to lose - don't really care how long it takes at this point. I'm pretty happy with the way I look, and I really feel like I can now enjoy food (and different food) but still control how much I have - it's a very powerful feeling![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Has anyone else experimented with changing up their diet and not eating the same things every day and found it to be a positive thing in the land of weight loss?
