To those that saw my previous post about the dudes watching Soap Operas while working out, it was no fluke. The same guys were watching the same soap while working out and benching300+ on the flat bench. Funny as all get out.

Back to why I posted though. I hit the gym to lift for the first time this week due to work conflicts. The increased break definitely gave me more recovery time and I could feel it with a more intense work out. I hit higher weights on most lifts today than I had ever been able to previously. So scheduling rest days in your lifting routine is a very good thing.

The higher intensity was somewhat amusing and this came to mind.

You know your workout is more intense when:
your workout is followed by a nausea quotient to gauge it.
the social lifters volunteer to let you work through on their station.
the bigger lifters go "Dude!" and pat you on the back after your last set of dead lifts.

Finish Strong

Stay strong man :-) kudos for the progress!!!

I found that increasing the time between my sets really allowed me to ensure consistency, especially on the later workouts.

I lift 3 days a week, and always eat extra calories on my lift days and lift late in the evening - this helps.

You really need to make the right amount of time available for heavy lifting, if you rush it you wont be able to lift as much as you can!

    remember... up...down...up...down...more energy!!!!

You hit on the principle of the taper. If you are trained, and reduce weight and increase rest to maximize strength. In college we would taper before the end of the season tournament and I was a good two steps faster, and a lot stronger.
