Broken fingers... Upper Body Ideas?

Hey guys-

I've recently broken the middle and ring fingers on my left hand and I am at a loss for ways to keep up my training. I can't put a grip on anything with my left hand, apply pressure to the finger tips, or form a fist. I've been doing planks for my core and some lower body stuff along with stationary cycling, but I am miffed when it comes to keeping an upper body routine going. Any ideas?

Thanks!!
John

  • oh jez hope it heals up fast
maybe you can work with resistance bands for a little bit to at least stay on track. I know you probably think it's girlie but they have some crazy ones and you can double them up and stuff I think it would work if you had them around your wrist. That way you won't lose everything.
  • I'd like to know what you come up with. I sprained the bejeezus out of my middle finger and can't figure out how to get upper body work in now. It feels like a wussy injury but it sure does screw everything up.

How about wrist weights and then do some basic exercises that you would otherwise do: bicep curls, rows, etc. but with the weights on your wrists. Sure, you won't be able to do heavy weights, but you will still gain some benefit and it beats doing nothing. With yoga type or pilates stretching, you can also get a great workout.
