what happened this morning

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to get your opinion. I normally try to do at least 45 minutes to an hour on the elliptical each day, I also do at least level 2 of 30 Day shred each day. I've been going non-stop for the last 3 weeks with only one off day total. This morning I get on the elliptical after about 43 minutes, I felt faint and had to stop working out. I normally get tired when it gets close to the end but have always pushed myself to finish. We are in the gym like 0530-0600 in the morning so I never have time to get breakfast so I normally just have a glass of water before I leave and then a piece of quench gum while I workout and eat once I get home. I normally drink at least 2 litres of water each day but yesterday I only had one so I don't know if I was slightly dehydrated or what but this has never happened to me before and I don't want it to ever happen again. Has this ever happened to anyone before, it scared me and I run to the dr for everything so I'm just checking to see if I should be concerned or not.
thanks

Sounds like your body is telling you to take breaks and eat breakfast before you work out! (even if it's just a hard-boiled egg and/or an apple on the way to the gym)

I would at least grab a piece of fruit before going tomorrow and see if it happens again. If it does go to the Dr.

Dehydration is definitely at the root. Additionally if you are on BP meds as you lose weight and become more fit your need for these meds diminishes so check that. More fluid, especially while working out. Fiber bar if more fluid doesn't do the trick.

That is pretty intensive exercise, and sometimes your body needs a recovery day. I have recently completed my training for a marathon, and recovery periods are built into that schedule of high mileage. Without being a medic, I would say that's your body saying it needs a recovery day. I occassionally have had those when out running, and it always passes.

I guess you might want to go to the doctor if it carries on every single day.

I forgot to mention that my running training is always first thing in the morning and I always eat some dry toast (wheatgerm bread) before going out running - about 30-45 mins before.

This used to happen to me when I first started working out. I would feel faint and have to stop working for a few minutes. I always tried to finish the workout at a less intense level. To fix the problem, I arranged my day so that I ate breakfast an hour before my workout. I was going with how my mom used to say we couldn't go in the pool for an hour after we ate, lol. I don't know if my plan is medically sound, but it worked for me. In fact, I'm answering this as I eat before I go to Zumba. Good luck. :drinker:

Oh, and give yourself a day off. "Six days shalt thou labor." I think workouts count.
