I am realizing that to get a decent calories burned estimation, I need a heart rate monitor. Any suggestions? I know nothing about them.

I suggest talking with BV1980. He has done a lot of research and is going to be helping me find one.0

Polar FT4 and FT7 are popular models. However, I am using the Zephyr Technologies HxM with my Android. I have no complaints at all with it.

I have the Polar FT4. I bought it off of Amazon.com for around $80.00. I love it. It has a very comfortable chest strap and the watch is very easy to use and hold several training files.
This morning the treadmill at the gym said I burnt 123 calories and the HRM said 217...I usually subtract about 50 calories just to be on the safe side. It has defenitely helped me track calories better.0 -
I also have the Polar FT4. Love it!0
