Fruit is naturally high in sugar. But Fruit Flakes also contains added sugars in various forms. More than two thirds of this 25g pack, by weight, is sugar, meaning 17g of sugar, equivalent to almost four teaspoons. This gives Collins some concern. “The amount of sugar really makes this an unacceptable fruit-based snack to count towards the five-a-day message,” she says. “It is no more than a substitute for a packet of sweets, which would contain similar amounts of sugar and calories.”0
