So I've made the decision that atleast for now, while on the road to my weight loss I am going to cut out red meat, dairy, and coffee.
I have cut out red meat before (years ago) and it was fine...although I love me some steak and burgers haha. The dairy is more intimidating, as I LOVE milk and especially cheese. Yikes! That will be tough. I will be switching from coffee to tea, just because of the health benefits of tea and also I have insomnia I think partly due to the high amounts of caffeine in coffee. So yeah....wish me luck!! I can't believe I'm feeling motivated enough to do this....I guess I'm really serious about being healthy now and 'eating clean'.![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I've just been hearing a lot of people talking about how cutting out meat and dairy has helped them shed the weight, so I'm going to try it out. Anyone have experience with this?

Just a suggestion to throw your way. How about tackling one change at a time? It might seem less overwhelming that way. I know everyone is different, so if you want to do it all at once, best wishes to you!0

Congratulations on starting your road to a healthier lifestyle :drinker: .
Going "cold turkey" can be easy for some people and harder for others. You might try eliminating one thing at a time and see how that goes for a week. If you can do with out red meat for a week then try removing dairy the next week. Going slow will make your transition much easier.
Just a suggestion
Good luck . . . keep us posted on your progress!0 -
If your body is used to lots of caffeine prepare yourself for the awful withdrawl headaches. They almost put me out for the count for about a week. Good luck to you!!0

I have red meat once every two weeks, replaced it with lean chicken and turkey.
I still have almond milk to replace nonfat milk.. less cals and sugar.
I wish you much success! I personally don't feel i'm missing anything :happy:0 -
Just some friendly advice - any black tea has almost as much caffeine as coffee. Depending on brewing strength it could be more. Make sure you get enough dairy! Caffeine inhibits your body's ability to absorb calcium and if you are cutting out dairy you will likely be deficient.
I applaud your commitment, no way I could do that. I have seriously tried to eat *less* red meat. What helps when I am really craving it is a turkey burger or spaghetti with ground turkey. The flavor is a little different, but texture is similar, and I add so many veggies, ketchup, mustard (to burger) etc that it is similar enough to make me happy
Good luck!0 -
I just did a 21 day challenge where I basically went vegan, and it really was amazing how quickly I felt better, saw some weight loss, and was able to keep it up without cheating. I thought I would miss dairy, but it really was fine, there are plenty of alternatives on the market and many restaurants are vegan friendly.0

Thanks for all the advice everyone!! I personally think that I will do better just quitting all at once especially cuz it coincides with my 30DS, but I can see what you're saying about spacing them out. I just need to be strict with myself, and prove to myself that I have the will-power to do it.0

Hmm....after thinking of all the things I'm gonna miss by giving up red meat and dairy, I think I will allow myself a once a week cheat day. So I stay sane lol. Atleast I will MAJORLY be cutting back.0

So I haven't really lost any weight since I gave up red meat and dairy....is that weird or what? Maybe my body burns fat better when I have a well-rounded diet and am not depriving myself of anything...hm. Just a thought. Yes I've lost inches but I went from steadily losing 2 lbs a week to losing nothing for like 2 weeks now. Just getting kind of frustrating. :-/ I think I will give the no dairy thing a full month and then quit it. I'm over it lol.0
