why whey?

this may seem like a dumb question, but I really don't know. Why should I incorporate whey protein into my diet?

    You don't have to. It's good for supplementing protein if you can't eat enough or don't want to eat too many calories.

    Whey powder is mostly protein so it helps people to balance their daily macros correctly. In one word, it's convenient.

    Having a higher protein diet in combination with resistance training helps you maintain muscle mass while losing body fat. Losing fat is great but it shouldn't come at the expense of losing a great deal of muscle mass.
