Okay so my question is simple. What is your sodium goal set at? After looking over the topic online I see the government says no more than 2500 a day? Thats what mine is set at but I have to tell you the things that contain sodium baffles me! Mini carrots for my 6 theres like 40 sodiums! What the heck? So how much is your sodium goal and do you count the sodium from veggies and fruit? and how does sodium personally affect your body?

Thanks for the advice :-)

My Dr set my goal at 1250, but that may be temporary.

2500 is a good starting point.

Some Dr's recommend as low as 1500 if you have a history of high blood pressure.

I personally shoot for 1500, but rarely hit that low, and usually try and stay under 2500.

Sodium is sodium, does not matter where it comes from, so yes, you should count it all.

My goal is 1500mg/day, BUT I have been going way over. In my clinical nutrition courses that I am taking as a nursing major, we are taught that 2500 is the MAXIMUM a person should intake each day and 1200mg - 1500mg is a healthy range. I can really tell a difference when I intake too much sodium. Sadly, it is far too frequent lately.

Mine is set to the default of 2,500, but normally I'm around 7-800, unless i have my turkey chunks toastie for lunch, which pushes it up to around 1,700.

It was so difficult sticking to 2500 a day when I started, but I'm able to do 1500 a day now. It gets really easy when you start making everything. I relied heavily on frozen/packaged foods when I first started, so it was really difficult. I get really bloated and tend to gain about four or five pounds in water weight. It's pretty horrible.
