Trying to figure this out!

Ok, so I have been reading that you need to NET 1200 a day or you will put your body in starvation mode. I've never practiced this. Should I make my net be 1200, or just keep my net @ 971. I'm not hungry, but I don't want to do the wrong thing and go backwards.

Why is your net at 971? The only time it should ever be that low is if you just has bariatric surgery.
You can starve yourself for awhile, but in the long run its not healthy.
I know MFP did not tell you 971... did you do your goals?
Click on My Home > Goals >Guided
Put in your height/weight/age/goal etc....
Choose to lose 2lb a week if you have more than 70lbs to lose
Choose 1lb if you have under 70
Choose 1/2 lb if you have under 20 or so
That's the correct net.... I usually set my activity to sedentary and track my exercise.0 -
do what works for you and your body. If what you are doing is working..... don't fix it if it ain't broke. I have been looking into zig-zag for when my weight loss slows down.0

Here's my info for the day.
Goal 1810
Food 1418
Exercise - 447
Net 971 <--- is what I am talking about, does this need to be 1200 or is it ok?0 -

Oh THAT! Looks like you did your settings correctly....
If you don't exercise at all --- are you supposed to have 1810?
If so, that is also what you should eat NET
I usually can't eat all of mine back -- some days I'm just not hungry -- so don't do it.
I try to eat at least half of my exercise back -- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
It won't hurt ya once in awhile I you were saying that your daily limit was 971 -- that would be starving

Yes, eat a little bit more. I go through that (like yesterday and today) where my exercise calories burned puts me below what I should be having. Try to get in at least another 100 calories. Maybe something like a yogurt or some cottage cheese or a protein bar.0

It's a good idea to keep your net at or over 1200, but you shouldn't force yourself to eat if you aren't hungry. As long as you have proper nutrition and aren't going under a lot it should be fine.0
