How do you count frying food?

I am making catfish nuggets. I wet them w/water & coat them in a mixture that is 30 cals per tbsp, then I fry them in canola oil.

How do I figure out how many calories they are. I can't possibly know how much of the oil I am actually consuming, or how much of the fry mix. :indifferent:

I've often wondered this myself. :ohwell:

My solution since I could never figure it out was to quit frying my food altogether. It's worked out pretty good so far, but it would still be really great to know.

    Anyone?

try the calorie free pan spray stuff then you don't have to count anything extra
  • Well what I do is I double the cals. for anything I deep fry, this way I am safe

I know that if you use olive oil, your talking 99cals per teaspoon.

You could always weigh the entire pan full of oil both before and after you've fried.... the difference would be how much oil "stuck" in your food.
