Is this a good form of exercise to help burn calories?

    I like it. Its a bit easier on the knees than running and if you are keeping up a good cadence is an excellent way to burn calories. Plus if you stick with it for a while you can start replacing shorter car trips with your bike if you are in a bike friendly-ish area. You can save some gas as well as lose weight.

    I would recommend getting some bike shorts because the hardest part (at least for me) is getting used to the seat. The shorts cut down on that pain a LOT. You can wear them under another pair of pants/shorts if you dont like the way they look.
