New to the whole calorie tracking thing. I am confused as to how many calories I should shoot for daily with exercise to reduce my weight?
If my calories are 1200 per day...should I exercise to burn that amount per day? HELP! LOST IN THE SAUCE OVER HERE

The way this site is set up, 1200 almost certainly puts you in deficit. If you exercise, you'll effectively be earning more calories to eat (and eat then you should as your newly exercised body will require some fuel). ... If you burn 1200 calories through exercise, you will have doubled your food allowance :-)0

Just be careful not to eat too many calories that you burned off because the calories you burn are probably about 20% lower than what MFP says (at least for me) I use my heart rate monitor to get a better idea of how many calories I can add back. I always add back enough calories to make sure that I get to 1200 net calories per day based on what my heartrate monitor says (not MFP).0

1200 calories is the number of net calories you should be consuming. For example, on days where you don't exercise you should eat 1200 calories, on days you have a 400 calorie burn you should eat 400 calories. So exercise whatever you need to exercise, and then eat what you need to eat.0 -

I think allabtim meant that when you burn 400 calories add that to the 1200. You'd eat 1600 calories on the day you burned 400.0
