Who here uses one and what brand would you recommend?

I'm looking for alternative heating solutions for my gym.

Gracias.

My hubby is from Cali and thought of getting one when we were updating our furnace here in PA, but someone we talked to thought that it was an inefficient way to heat here!

My husband's grandparents have one. They just got an inexpensive brand, but it works wonders!

check with your insurance company first...
  • I heat with a free standing inside wood stove.. It does a great job heating my 2200 sq ft house.. BUT heating a gym may be a bit more difficult..
    1) location of the stove.. what may happen is if the stove is in one end of the gym.. that end may be REALLY warm and the other end will be cooler as the heat is radiant (unless its a furnace add on type model at which point this wont be an issue)
    2) regulation of the heat.. with my wood stove the can get REALLY warm for a while and then cool off.. Then as you add more fuel .. it will get REALLY warm and then cool off

    Just a couple thoughts

Believe it or not, I actually heat my gym with wood now. Probably why I have a waiting list for people to come train with me... it's unique. I grew up in a wood heated home and I have a wood stove in my house. But with the gym, it's tough. I don't like the mess of the wood in there. I like a quicker heat up, which I hear a pellet stove will provide. Plus, I can put it on a thermostat. Or some of these models autoregulate the temps now.

I was thinking something like this:
