Unsweetened tea

Does unsweetened tea count for water intake? I'm quitting my sodas that I drink everyday (today is day 5), and tea can help with the caffiene headaches. But can I count it as water, since it's made from water? I also tried the 0 calorie Life Water, just to get some taste, since just plain water in just plain boring.

  • I dont.... I only count my water when I drink water

Absolutely, the diuretic effect of tea is so weak there is almost no way you can dehydrate with it. It's all water with a little "spice" which is what tea is.

YES IT DOES!!!!! Do not count caffeinated or carbonated beverages, nor alcohol. Tea counts for sure!

when I was pregnant with my 2nd child
I was border line gestational diabetic.
My nutritionist told me that both coffee & tea
    can be counted as water.
  • I, my self count it as water if it is herbal (no caffine) with no condiments. Celesial Seasons Bengal Spice is the only tea I like straight up. It has cinimon in it which is naturally sweet tasting, so good :)

I count tea as my water intake. It's half the fluids I get in a day.

That is, real tea, not that iced tea crap.

I count it. If not, I'd die. I hate drinking plain old water. If it doesn't have sodium or calories, I count it.

personally i feel drinking tea is a luxury ( and believe me i love my tea ) i dont think u need to have it unsweetened maybe try a low calorie sweetener ( which i have ) or try cutting down on your sugar or sweetener over a few weeks because on average it takes 12 taste for taste buds to become customised to what you are putting in or maybe just cutting down on the amount of tea your drinking maybe just just have it at certain times of the day ie , like with breakfast or mid morning x

    I agree with ncahill77.

    Here's my take on it:
If you brew it from leaves, then it counts as water.
If you add water to powder, this does not count as water.
If you buy it in a bottle or can (like snapple or Arizona) then this does not count as water.

Here's a few things to put in your water to make it more interesting:
    - Dried Crysanthemum flowers (this makes crysanthemum tea).
    - Lemon or Lemon Juice
