Ketones positive in urine test

I have trying to eat net calories of 1600 each day per MFP's suggestion. Everyday, I checked ketone in my urine using testing strip. Almost everyday, the morning fasting result is positive, +, or even +++. But during day, at different time points, it is usually -, or +.

Does this related to my limited food intake and high exercise, or related to taking a balanced food? Or does that relate to my water drinking too much or too less?

Anybody has similar experience? How can I stabilize my urine ketone to negative (-) all time?

Thanks a lot,

William.

Why are you checking your ketones?

Ketones (acetoacetate and bethydroxybutarate) are generated from the breakdown of fat- ie. using fat instead of carbs to fuel your body. Everyone will produce ketones after a signficant fast. They aren't generally harmful in a healthy person and are processed for energy by your cells.

I'd stop worrying about it and chuck away your ketostix.

(assuming you are not a type 1 diabetic)

All that means is that you have entered your body into burning its own fat for energy. Why would you want to change that?
