I'm so sorry to hear about Dylan. What a little sweetie! He sounds like he loved his life. Thank you for giving him such a good home. It's so hard to go through. The empty house is hard too. We had to put our dog to sleep. We knew we had to adopt another dog. It was just too hard to come home to an empty house. He didn't replace her, but he sure made things a bit easier to get through. He's just as sweet as she was and we are lucky to have him.
Again, sorry to hear about him.
Take care.0 -

What a wonderful tribute to your beloved Dylan("the Villan") !!!!!! You painted a beautiful picture of this magnificent creature!!! I feel like I knew him! My eyes are filled with tears for you and my heart aches for you and your family!!! I am the biggest dog lover I know! LOL I have two cocker spaniels. They are my loves!! I too have experienced the loss of a beloved pet a few times. It is sooooooo hard!! You will always have your memories of Dylan and hopefully some pictures to cherish. I just love the way you wrote about Dylan and his personality!! He was one in a million I'm sure!! Time will heal your heart, it takes lots of time but it will get better but you will always miss him, and you will Never forget him!!
Take care my friend! {{{HUGS}}}}0 -
I'm so sorry you've lost your Dylan so suddenly. :brokenheart: Your post sent me to tears, as well. I've been through the loss of many pets and each one is absolutely heart breaking. You gave Dylan a great life from the sounds of it and I know you will miss him greatly.
I've been trying to prepare myself for the upcoming heartbreaks as my two faithful dogs have started to really decline and show their age of 14. Hands down, losing them is the hardest part of pet ownership. :frown:0 -
Reading about your darling dog made me laugh in parts because our Sierra, a half Australian Shepherd "pound puppy" who turns 13 in a few weeks, is very similar, especially the food stealing part. She also loves to knock over the garbage can when we aren't home and we forget to put it outside (strictly to keep it away from her!) or empty it. She's slowly deteriorating, especially over the past few months, and I know one day very soon I'll be coming home to an empty house myself. You have my every sympathy.0

What a beautiful tribute to your friend. I have loved (and lost) a few very special dogs over the years. Each of them is still with me in one way or another.0

I am so sorry for your loss. I could never understand the love for an animal until Raychal. She helped each of my children through hard times of growing up. Slept with me when I was lonely. Was the best dog in the world.
She lived 17 years. I still miss her today.
I like to picture her running with your furbaby in fields of lavender.

I am crying you with Azdak. Having traveled this road myself, I know you are hurting. Cling to the memories.0

I have a ribeye stealing pup, who can blame her? I'm feeling for you just now. I think our dogs somehow find a different part of our heart that is specially reserved for them. For yours, I wish you calm comfort in knowing that you gave Dylan a wonderful 8 years on this planet. He was loved, pet by many and well fed too.
Big hugs, Az0 -
I'm so sorry for your loss, as a dog owner myself of two dogs that i love dearly, they become so much a part of the family they are like kids in a way. I often think about how i would feel if i ever lost one or both of my dogs and it makes me extremely sad. My dachshund is very over weight and I'm afraid he will collapse of a heart attack so lately i have been trying to watch his food intake and exercise him more, not an easy task as he loves to eat. Again, i am so very sorry, i know how hard it must be and i wish you speedy healing as time will heal your pain. Always remember the good times you both shared and always know how much he loved you and enjoyed life with you, you and your family made his life enjoyable and that, he will never forget!0

Had to put my German shepherd down two years ago, still hurts when I think about it. We have another, but Kaela will always be our first. Good luck and i like to read the rainbow bridge, but I'll warn you, you won't have a dry eye, I still don't. Good luck.0

I am so sorry for your loss and cried through your story. I am a huge animal lover and have had 2 goldens in the past, awesome dogs! After getting married my husband is a big german shepherd fan and we currently have 3 of those a lab shepherd mix, 2 toy poodles, and let's not forget the cats! So yes I have 6 dogs and 2 cats. When the time is right and you will know when that is another will steal your heart!:flowerforyou:0

I wanted to give everyone a smile, especially Azdak who has given us so much GOOD information in the years he has been here.
My golden lab Raychal had hip displasia. I found out when she was 7 or so and babied her from that day forward. Gave her rymidal for the pain, taught her a new way to play with her ball. See it was too painful for her to run and jump high like she used to, but she was a dog and would DO it if you threw it!
So comes the days when I knew it would not be long. 16-17 yrs for a dog is more than a lifetime. In that time she grew up with my kids, and was as much a part of the family as any of us.
One day she went down, and wouldn't get up. I carried her to the vet, who gave her a shot for pain, and told me it wasn't time. Bring her back if she doesn't get up in 3 days.
For 3 days I lay on the floor next to her, using a eye dropper to put water on her tongue, putting peanutbutter on her mouth. She lay there, looking up at me with her big brown loving eyes.
On day 3 I lay sobbing next to her on the floor :"Raychy girl, you know I love you and would never hurt you. Tomorrow I will bring you to the vet and you can go spend some time with my Mom. She is awesome and has a lil dog named Whiskers that will help you catch the ball!!. I love you with all my heart and hate for them to give you that needle................" At this her eyes got a bit wider......I SWEAR! She looked in my eyes and didnt she get UP!!!!!!
She got UP and walked outside to use the bathroom!! I was laughing so hard through my sobs. You see OL Raychy girl HATED her yearly shots!
She rallied and stayed with us for another month before crossing that Rainbow bridge. I still close my eyes and picture that night when she got up and said "Heyllll NO you aint puttin no needle in ME!!"
I hope this story made you laugh or at least smile Azdak. That is why I shared it. Our furbabies are so special and wonderful. I am thankful God brought each one into my life. :flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks for all of the kind remarks. I was off yesterday, so the support was helpful.
Although, 24 hours later, I can't say the grief has lessened at all.0 -
