Hi all, Tobi here. I admit it I'm a meat hound and someone told me that I could get my protien from tofu since I get a bit bored with baked chicken breast..Anybody out there know anything about tofu? Is it good diet food ,I'm on 1500 calories and very low fat.

  • Tofu is pretty amazing but can get very bland. Fortunately enough, you can combine it with anything, and it will suck up the flavor very well. It's high in protein and very low on fat. I generally like to make tofu scrambles. I make a stir fry with a large assortment of vegetables and when they have about five minutes left before done, I crumble extra firm tofu and mix it up. I like to add in curry and pepper for extra flavor. I also like to add in some brown rice and pretend like it's fried rice. The great thing about it is that it's a whole meal in one, you can cook it in bulk for the whole week, and it's incredibly filling yet low in calories and high in nutrients.
  • Tofu is a good vegetable-based protein source, as long as you aren't allergic to soy.
Try googling Chinese food, there are a billion recipes out there. Also, I eat tofutti instead of ice cream.
    Here's a good stir-fry recipe. I like Miso Dashi. It's a bit more flavorful.

Make sure that you use paper towels to dry up the tofu. It can be extremely watery if you don't do that. If it helps, you might want to just cube it up and then add it to your stir fry. Add in salt, pepper, curry, any flavors that you really enjoy. Sometimes, I'll add in soy sauce.
