I have just signed up to MFP... a very new experience for me..... I really liked the iphone app to keep track of what i eat so have now jumped in to join this community.
I've tried a few things in the past ..... CSIRO diet worked really well but I got sick of it after a while and put all the weight back on .... most recently the blood type diet on advice from a kiniesiologist but it just doesn't make sense to me ...
So I figure that just trying to be more disciplined by keeping track of everything I eat and all exercise i do might be the best way and will make me accountable to myself ...... and although I have never posted on a forum before perhaps this is another way to make me more accountable and hopefully get some support along the way.
Looking forward to exploring this MFP community.

Hi , I' m Fabienne, I have a health problem and have to be particularly careful about how much calories and which calories I take in, so I 'm a little scarry and hope I could make it anyway.0

Hello Lisa. mfp has certainly worked for me - I was gaining weight whilst on diet - mostly because I was in denial about how fattening my comfort foods of choice really were Forcing myself to log absolutely everything that went into my mouth definately opened my eyes!
Good luck to you Sending you a friend request0 -
Thanks Sallie..... I know exactly what you mean about the comfort food.... I'm exactly like that.... I try to convince myself that I am being so good on a diet and eating so healthily but am in a bit of denial about the bowl of ice cream I had to treat myself when everyone went out and I had the house to myself or the biscuits which I'd bought for my sons and just had to try one... or 2 or 3.....
Even just putting in everything I ate yesterday has surprised me in all the hidden calories..... the beautiful and healthy raw honey I have in my dandelion tea... sounds so good for me but if I have a couple of cups a day plus put it in my hot water and lemon in the morning then I can easily add a couple of hundred calories without thinking!! And I thought i was having a really good day!
The app for the iphone just makes it so easy to put everything in and see exactly how much I am having ..... i have tried food diaries before but I loose interest very quickly.... hopefully the instant feedback with this one will help me stay on track as I can see so clearly if I have used up all my daily allowance.... so if i want more I have to get up and exercise.... so simple really.
I haven't quite figured out the friend request thing yet but I will add you when I sort it out, thanks...... not sure what extra support it gives.... but I'm open to any help I can get0 -
Lisa, I find some friends are motivating - but I am usually too busy / disorganised!!! to get the most out of that.
I do find that I am motivated to keep logging in due to the friendly atmosphere, comments and feedback which comes from having a few friends ..... and while I am here I might as well update my food diary - which is the thing that makes the most difference for me.
There are several groups you can also join - some fixed term with a short objective and some longer. Depends on the size of the group, you may get to know people in more detail there.0
