I believe the p90x program comes with a diet book to adjust to each phase of the program. I never followed it which could explain why I didn't get the results that others have gotten with it. I started calorie counting last month and have lost 13 lbs since. Its probably best to follow the p90x diet, but calorie counting works as well. Good luck!
  • lets just say i didnt buy directly from them, my friend gave me a copy on my computer. i dont have 130 dollars to pay for an exercise program

Google the P90X Nutrition Guide, it's there.

If in doubt, set your nutrition goals to the following:
"Be smart and follow the current USDA Dietary Guidelines. Do not restrict carbohydrates below 45 percent of total calories consumed. Keep your protein intake between 10 percent and 35 percent of total caloric intake (meets current guidelines) and not at the 50 percent this phase recommends."

You want to follow 20% Fat / 40% Carbs / 40% Protein with P90X. WIth MFP, you can adjust your percentages for this and it will tell you how many grams you can eat based on your calories.

I also HIGHLY recommend the P90X Results and Recovery Formula! It helps with soreness after the workouts! Love that stuff!

I am in week 10 of P90X and recently changed my food ratio to 40% carb/ 30% protein/30% fat (which is pretty close to how the guide book recommends- a lower carb/higher protein diet) and lost almost 2 lbs in one week after that adjustment. I only had 5 lbs to lose but the scale wasn't seeming to budge even though I was staying within my calorie goal. So after I made that change, like I said I lost 2 lbs, 1" around my waist, and 1% body fat.
You can change that setting in the goals tab, then customize.

I have the diet booklet but followed it loosely considering i dont have the time to dedicate to making all those recipes lol ... I went with a high protein (about 120-140 grams a day) and lower carb, low sugar - no added sodium ( not using salt but making sure i get the daily requirement)

It worked well for me - before joining mfp i did it w another calorie counting app. and lost 20lbs

    Good luck!

I use 40/30/30 also, and make sure I have at least 1 gram of protein for my lean body weight. Then I just watch calories, and make good food choices.

I use a different recovery drink brand myself, works as well for me.
