Cutting sugars in my diet

Would like some suggestions in cutting sugars in my diet. I just found out yesterday that my sugars are too high. Really want to lower them in my diet. Have been trying for the two weeks I've been using MFP. All foods have sugar in them, including fruit.
Any helpful receipes or foods to eat.
I have bought fruitcups with no added sugar for a snack. Was also told by a friend who is a diabectic that fresh fruit should be eating with meals; not as a snack. Does something to your insulin levels in your body when you have say an apple for afternoon snack.
Confusing to try to watch them...
Any help would be useful for me...Thanks

I know some people take cinnamon to blunt insulin. You can by it in pill form, I've seen it at Sam's Club in a mega bottle but I'm positive you can buy it anywhere that sells vitamins. I rarely eat fruit because of the sugar content, even though I do love it lol! I find eating foods that are high in protein help the most with feeling full because if you eat sugary foods you're going to crash and want more sugar. I eat a ton of fat free yogurt mixed with a lower carb "yogurt" from Krogers. Total it has 14 carbs, 13 of which are sugar but it also has 27g of protein and I usually can't eat another bite after I've finished. It cuts my sweet cravings and I get a protein bomb so it's all good0

I've been working on that, too. I only eat 1 piece of fruit a day and always before lunchtime. I always combine it with protein and carb and a little fat. Don't know if there is scientific evidence for this, but the protein, carb, fat combination keeps me from crashing so I eat every meal and snack in that combination. I cut out those sneaky sugars, too, like ketchup, barbecue sauce, and the like. These changes have really helped kill my sugar cravings. I do eat some sugar in foods, like I will have yogurt and granola for a snack, but I find the products with the lowest sugar content possible, so my granola is the Bare Naked fit vanilla almond and I choose a high protein greek yogurt and make 1/2 plain yogurt and 1/2 vanilla flavored.0

Carbs can definitely be sneaky, a lot of advertised "healthy" food will cut out fat but load up on carbs. The two things I love but rarely eat now is rice and corn. Had to eat a few cobbs of corn in season though and as a fan of Thai and Indian food without rice it's just not the same!
If I ever get the urge for sweat things I buy the Atkins lo carb bars, satisfies the urge OK.
Learn to read the boxes and look up sugar content if not sure!0
