Breast Cancer awareness

Hello All,

Just a reminder to go get those mammograms and continue to do your self examinations. Its sad to say but I'll be 46 on Monday but I just had my first exam in August. I let people scare me to the point of not getting an exam. I went to Eisenhower Army Medical center for a physical and the Dr noticed that I was long overdue for an exam so he politely walked me over the the breast exam area and coinsidentally had an opening and they took me in and examined me. I was so surprised that it only took maybe 5 minutes and it is uncomfortable but not as bad as people made it out to be, needless to say I'll be back next year. Early detection if the key and so I want to take this time to encourage men and women to check. I was shocked to learn that men can also get breast cancer but it does happen so everyone please get checked and take care.

Thanks :)

Thanks for the post!! Early detection is key!! My grandma (62) was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of this year and just finished Chemo and now on to radiation! Im only 24 but now i am going to be super aware of my "breast health" Thanks again!
  • I am a breast cancer survivor and they found it early through a mamogram, so yes it is very important. I have been clear for 8 years now but make sure I go every year..

Good Advice. This just caught my eye because I will be going in for a lumpectomy next Friday. I have been through this before and so far no cancer but these lumps have been monitored for over a year now. And since they began to grow again in the last six months. I cannot stress enough how important it is. I am only 39 and have been having examinations since I was 33 due to mysterious symptoms. No history in my family and the doctors are hopeful that it is a fibronoma (which is benign) but still, the fear still exists. And the risk of cancer developing rises when these fibronomas begin to grow again.

Please take the above advise! And stay healthy!
