I found a mass in my abdomen, my doctor thinks it's scar tissue. It's on my lower right side, at the end of my scar from a c-section. 'Bout golf ball size.

After running, it aches. Kinda throbbing aching.

Anyone who has scar tissue.... is this common? (My c-section was August 2005.... 3.5 year ago.)

Well I have scar tissue that holds my implants and when I've torn it (like swinging a tennis racquet) it has been REALLY painful. Mine usually feels better in a couple days. I've even done it with vigorous cleaning.

Don't know if my answer is much help...
  • I had a massive snowboarding accident with a lot of scarring. I found the area tight for a long time and ached-it went away after like a year though.
  • I have not had a c-section but I have had microscopic surgery. My incisions are not very big but the one I have in my bellybutton hurts sometimes. Throbs like you said. I haven't checked it out with my doctor but it usually goes away so I don't think about it. Sorry that's not very much help.
  • I have had three c-sections. One on top of the other and my third one is above the first scare b/c it was a life or death situation. I have tons of scar tissue and occasionally it will ache. Is the lump new? If it has always been there I wouldn't worry, but if it is new I would get a second opinion or ask the doc to run test just to be on the safe side.

I had a dual inguenal hernia operation (two softball size hernia about two inches below my bellybutton) about 11 years ago (yes - they were caused by me going crazy with exercise instead of doing it smartly!). Even today, when I sit a long time or lift heavy things more than occasionally, it feels like it's tearing. I have been checked out twice in the last year and a half to make sure there are no new hernias...just told that the scar tissues is pulling...so I know what you are going throught!

I had a testicular removal over the summer and I too found a large lump forming under the scar on my abdomen when I started working out again. I went to the doctor and he said it was just fluid forming under the skin and it would drain. It eventually "popped" and it opens up every now and again and oozes some blood and fluid, and it is sore, but he said its nothing to worry about. Hope this helps!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR RESPONSES!!!!!
Each and every single one of you -- thank you!! :flowerforyou:

Those responses help ease my mind.

My doctor checked my lump in every conceivable position I could contort my body.
    He's satisfied it's not a hernia.
Has the lump been there for a long time? No idea... I only noticed it about 3 months ago, after the first ab-intensive workout class I took. It could have been there since my c-section, lurking under those 50lbs of extra weight I was carrying.
It only aches after I workout using my ab muscles -- that Pilates/sculpting class, zumba, or running.

    Thank you,
